Abstract: the article presents and revises the political thought of C. Bruaire. This is the author’s thesis, of which it is concerned: the gift of God is not in contradiction with autonomous reason, it is indeed its foundation. First of all, Bruaire identifies the fundamental categories of political freedom (State, power and Nation) and arranged them in a system. This is functional to a theory of freedom understood as self-expression and relationship. A metaphysical discussion is therefore undertaken in two stages: the modern models are initially criticized, then a trace inspired by the thought of Schelling is proposed.The gift of God and freedom, understood ontologically as spirit, are the arrival point of the work and the possible starting point of another reflection.
