Introduzione a “La matematica e le scienze dell’uomo”

Abstract: this paper introduces the Italian translation of the essay Les mathématiques de l’homme, by Claude Lévi-Strauss. By examinating the general proposal of this article, that is the research of a useful cooperation between empirical and humanistic disciplines in the study of Man, and crossing it with the theoretically more interesting proposal that discusses the difference between quantitative and qualitative mathematics, this paper aims to discuss relevance and philosophical efficacy of the epistemological proposal of Lévi-Strauss’ structural anthropology.
